My 12 year old shih tzu was recently diagnosed with early renal failure. Complicating the matter is a lifetime of food and environmental allergies. My vet in MN recommended Royal Canin Multifunctiinal Renal and Hydrolyzed Protein diet, but the only product found locally was a huge $90 bag at Banfield PetSmart. Chewy online didn’t carry the smaller bag either, and Amazon wanted $189 for the huge bag!! I Googled it and found OKVetSupply carried it. I ordered it, received a fast email confirmation, and it was shipped the next day so that I received it within 4 days of ordering. So far she likes it and isn’t having allergy symptoms after 5 days on it.

My 14 year old Pomeranian was diagnosed with early stage kidney disease. He also has a severe allergy to chicken. Thankfully this food by Royal Canin addresses both issues. My dog LOVES the flavor and hasn't had a single upset stomach since starting it back in February.

I have a senior canine who has several health issues (Grade 4/6 heart murmur with left atrial enlargement that will eventually morph into Congestive Heart Failure, Stage 2 Chronic Renal Failure, as well as Protein Losing Enteropathy secondary to IBD). When her renal values indicated that she had progressed to Stage 3, the internist recommended this food - it addresses her protein sensitivity issues, as well as her decreased kidney function. Within one month, her renal values greatly improved (her BUN went from 77 to 58, and her Creatinine went from 2.2 back to normal limits), and her protein values all stayed within normal limits. She had been losing weight due to her elevated renal values - not only did she gain weight back, but it has stablized. I really wish this came in a canned formula, however, as she doesn't have teeth, and has a small mouth (she's a 6.5# Maltese mix). We figured out a way for her to eat it, but a canned formula would make it easier.

First time to purchase. Just found out geriatric dog has renal disease. She also has allergies. So far so good. She seems to be adjusting to it and loves the CRUNCH. I was concerned the kibble may be too large, hence to hard for her to eat. But I soon found out it is not as dense as the other Royal Canin foods I am familar with, and she has no problem eating it. The only thing I do not like is that there is not a companion wet food for this dry food. Doesn't make sense that a Renal food only comes in dry????? Would give 5 star rating if wet food was available.
